| The esraj is a little over 3 feet tall. It has a thin sitar-like neck and curved frets like a sitar. The bridge rests on a thick goat skin. It has 4 main strings and 15 sympathetics. Traditionally this is folk instrument, but this days it is not uncommon to hear classical music played on an esraj. It produces a haunting, sarangi-like sound. It is, however, much easier to play than a sarangi. Price includes case. |
