A message from Ali Akbar Khan:

Ali Akbar College of Music Annual Scholarships
Annual scholarships in varying amounts will be awarded by the scholarship
committee. All awards are renewable. Scholarship recipients are
required to work a maximum of 2 hours per week in the office or
store. Annual scholarships reflect a donor's commitment to support
a scholarship for a specific number of semesters or years. Contributions
made will be expended in the same fiscal year.
The AACM offers 4 semesters yearly. A typical semester of study
with Ali Akbar Khan or Swapan Chaudhuri can range from $300 - $650
depending on the number of classes a student wishes to take and
the level of learning they are capable of. The scholarship committee
will review the applications and discuss with each eligible student
the number of classes they need or are able to commit to according
to their abilities. Each scholarship will be tailored to the student.
Endowed scholarships create a permanent fund.
Contributions will be prudently invested with the Marin Community
Foundation to ensure that the scholarship retains its value in the
years to come. Scholarships established through endowments are funded
through the income earned by the endowment. The Marin Community
Foundation trustees establish the payout rate on an annual basis.
If you are interested in creating an endowed scholarship please
contact Mary Khan at:
